Residents of Dang Deukhuri have barricaded the East-West Highway at Lamahi Municipality 8, Jaharechowk, following a tragic bus collision that resulted in the loss of two lives. Protesters, armed with sticks and burning tires, are demanding compensation for the families of the victims and accountability for those deemed responsible.
The protests have led to significant disruptions in traffic flow. Despite the deployment of a large police force to reopen the highway, protesters are vehemently opposing their efforts.
Electrocution Incident Claims One Life in Syangja
The collision occurred on Saturday evening along the Hulaki Highway near the Koriya River bridge. Pramod Yadav and Pradeep Yadav, both 24-year-old residents of Rajpur Rural Municipality-5, Nausara, lost their lives in a collision involving their motorcycle and a bus with registration Ra 1 Kha 2360. The bus driver is currently in police custody.
Protesters resorted to blocking the road after negotiations at the Gadhawa checkpoint proved unsuccessful.
