Police arrested Dipesh Pun as part of an investigation into gold smuggling through Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).
According to the personal secretariat of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Rabi Lamichhane, a team from the Nepal Police headquarters apprehended Pun from Dhapasi. This action followed the cabinet’s decision to implement recommendations put forth by a high-level commission tasked with probing gold smuggling activities.
Dipesh Pun, who is the son of former Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun and serves as the general secretary of the student wing of the ruling CPN (Maoist Center), was taken into custody by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB) of Nepal Police.
