Damak– Yesterday evening, a catastrophic fire erupted near Lifeline Hospital in Damak, Jhapa, resulting in the destruction of property valued at more than Rs 20 million.
The fire originated from a residence owned by local resident Prem Bahadur Dhimal before rapidly spreading to three adjacent houses, causing extensive damage.
Reports from the District Police Office, Jhapa, indicate that the blaze also reached the structure housing Lifeline Hospital’s dialysis facility, leading to the ruin of vital medical equipment and accessories.
Expressing dismay, Hospital Chairman Dr. Muktinath Bhattarai disclosed that the dialysis machine was among the equipment incapacitated by the fire.
Containment efforts required a joint operation involving the Armed Police Force, Nepal Police, and community members to quell the inferno.
To tackle the flames and prevent further devastation, six fire engines were dispatched and put into action.
