RPP Holds Demonstration in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, Nepal– The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) is staging a demonstration in Kathmandu today in opposition to the republic. The program, starting from BhrikutiMandap at 11:30 am, includes marches through various parts of the city.

According to Mohan Kumar Shrestha, spokesperson and head of the publicity department of the party, the demonstration is aimed at pressuring the government to fulfill the 40 demands presented by the RPP. These demands include abolishing the republic, reinstating the monarchy, establishing a governance system with the king, and declaring Nepal a Hindu nation by rejecting secularism.

Therefore, under the slogan “Change the situation, change the system,” the RPP is leading the demonstration. The protest is being led by RPP Chairman Rajendra Lingden.

Before the demonstration, the RPP-affiliated Nepal Sanatan Dharma Sanskriti organization had organized a march from Bhrikuti Mandap to Gausala on Monday, where they had burnt effigies symbolizing opposition to the republic. Due to the potential for participants to violate prohibitory orders, security arrangements have been tightened in Kathmandu.
