Today, the handover ceremony for medical equipment provided by the Government of Japan to the Kathmandu Cancer Center (KCC) took place in Changunarayan Municipality, Bhaktapur.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of Ambassador Kikuta Yutaka, who represented Japan in Nepal.
The Government of Japan, through its Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP), extended support amounting to USD 74,033 (approximately NPR 8.75 million) for the Project for the Installation of Medical Equipment at Kathmandu Cancer Center in Bhaktapur District.
This initiative aimed to enhance the capabilities of the KCC operating room by equipping it with advanced features such as camera and monitor-equipped operating lights, along with a versatile operating table adjustable to various surgical needs.
During the event, Ambassador Kikuta extended congratulations and appreciation to all those involved in the project, highlighting the positive impact on the provision of higher-quality medical services. He expressed optimism that the upgraded facilities would significantly benefit patients and their families while contributing to the advancement of local medical care services.
Established in 2016, KCC has been a dedicated cancer hospital in Changunarayan Municipality, providing consultations and treatment to cancer patients. However, the lack of essential medical equipment had hindered the hospital’s ability to perform complex surgeries.
Ambassador Kikuta conveyed the Embassy’s hope that this project would enhance the response to the growing demand for improved medical services in the community and further strengthen the bond of friendship between the people of Japan and Nepal.
The GGP, designed to implement projects directly benefiting communities at the grassroots level, has been supporting socio-economic development initiatives in Nepal since 1991, with over 200 projects successfully implemented to date.
