Kathmandu, Nepal– The Nepalese national cricket team is gearing up for a significant challenge as they gear up to face West Indies A in a five-match T20 series, an integral part of their preparations for the T20 World Cup.
Starting on April 27th and culminating on May 5th, this landmark series will unfold at the TU Cricket Ground.
This momentous occasion marks the inaugural visit of any West Indies team to Nepal. It follows closely after the recent tour of Ireland Wolves, making it the first time an Irish side has toured Nepal.
For Windies cricket, this series underscores the importance of T20 World Cup preparation, especially for players not participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL), as it serves to evaluate the reserve talent pool.
Simultaneously, it presents an excellent opportunity for Nepal to engage in a series against a test nation ahead of their second appearance in the T20 World Cup. So far, Nepal has only encountered West Indies once, during the Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2023 in Zimbabwe.
“We are ecstatic and deeply honored by the visit of the West Indies ‘A’ team to Nepal, which signifies a significant milestone in our cricketing voyage.
This experience will greatly enrich our groundwork for the T20 World Cup and beyond. Hosting this historic tour in Nepal, a burgeoning cricketing nation, will undoubtedly ignite the fervor of our dedicated fans,” commented Paras Khadka, Secretary of the Cricket Association of Nepal.
