Government Declares a Public Holiday Tomorrow for Eid

Kathmandu, Nepal– The government has declared Thursday a public holiday in observance of Eid-ul-Fitr.

A notice from the Ministry of Home Affairs was issued on Wednesday, confirming the decision for the public holiday on Thursday.

Following prayers, Muslims engage in exchanging greetings and sharing various homemade delicacies.

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is a sacred period during which Muslims fast, known as Roza, for 30 days.

On the 70th day of this holy month, Muslims celebrate ‘Bakrid’, also referred to as ‘Eid al-Adha’.

During this period, many Muslims embark on the ‘Hajj’ pilgrimage to the holy cities of Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia.
