Midfielder Anita K.C. is set to play in the Indian Women’s League in place of Nepali national team member Preeti Rai. Preeti Rai, who is recovering from an injury, will be sidelined for three months.
Preeti has played in the Indian league against Kickstart. However, after her injury, Anita was recruited as a replacement by the Nepali national team. Anita will play in the remaining three games that the kickstart has yet to play. Anita expressed excitement about playing in the Indian league for the first time, stating, “I am very excited to get the opportunity to play in the Indian league for the first time. I am enthusiastic about it. After Preeti Rai’s injury, I got the chance. I will make efforts to fill her absence.”
The kickstart has matches remaining against Odisha FC, Sethu FC, and Gokul Kerala. With 6 wins, 2 draws, and 1 loss, they currently hold the third position with 20 points. In this season, Preeti and Deepa Shahi have shown outstanding performances for the kickstart, playing in 7 games together. Gokul Kerala is leading the league with 23 points from 10 games.
In this season’s Indian Women’s League, six Nepali players are participating.
