Goverment of Nepal allocated Rs 50 million for preparation of ICC Men’s T20 world cup

The Finance Ministry has earmarked Rs 50 million for the groundwork ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Cricket Championship. Tanka Lal Ghising, the Member-Secretary of the National Sports Council, emphasized the significance of Nepal participating in a major cricket event like the World Cup, revealing that the National Sports Council, in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, advocated for the allocation of Rs 50 million from the Finance Ministry.

Following the Nepali men’s cricket team’s selection for the World Cup, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal reassured that there would be no financial constraints for their preparation. Ghising urged the Cricket Association of Nepal to approach the preparation with utmost seriousness and dedication.

Nepal secured its place in the World Cup by defeating the United Arab Emirates with an eight-wicket victory in the semi-final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Asia Regional Qualifier held in Nepal from October 30 to November 5, 2023. The upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Cricket Championship is scheduled to take place in the USA and West Indies from June 1. It’s noteworthy that Nepal had participated in the T20 World Cup Cricket Championship for the first time in 2014.
