President Ram Chandra Paudel participated in a special ceremony organized by the Nepali Army today at Sainik Manch Tundikhel, commemorating Mahashivaratri and the 261st Army Day.

In his capacity as the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Nepali Army, President Paudel paid homage to the military memorial, receiving a salute from the Nepali Army. Mahashivratri has been celebrated as Army Day by the Nepali Army.

During the ceremony, President Paudel unveiled the annual magazine ‘Sipahi-2080,’ published by the Nepali Army’s Directorate of Military Public Relations and Information. He also presented awards to Tanka Bahadur Dangi and Jaganath Danai, securing first and second positions in the ‘Free Fall Jump’ competition.

Additionally, the President bestowed gifts upon the leaders of the Indian, British, and American military units, instrumental in performing the band during the Army Day celebrations. Before the event, an army helicopter showered flowers, and the national flag, alongside a banner reading ‘Army Day-2080,’ was displayed.

The Mahashivratri parade featured a march past with rifles and cannons, complemented by various artistic performances, dances, and musical displays by the Nepali Army. An exhibition showcased a variety of military vehicles, equipment, and weapons utilized by the Nepali Army in UN peacekeeping missions.

Among the distinguished attendees were Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ and Chief Justice Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha. The ceremony also drew the presence of Deputy Prime Ministers, Ministers, Members of Parliament, Constitutional bodies and officials, high-ranking government officials, heads of security agencies, and representatives from diplomatic missions in Nepal. Distinguished personalities from various sectors of society were also in attendance to witness the celebrations of Army Day.
