Rasuwa– The chairman of the rural municipality has been arrested on charges of human trafficking.
Nurbu Ghale, aged 52, residing in Rasuwa’s Naukunda Rural Municipality-1, was arrested by a team from the Human Trafficking Bureau on Wednesday from Babarmahal.
According to SP Gyanendra Prasad Phuyal, spokesperson of the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, an additional 5-day remand has been granted by the Kathmandu District Court for further investigation.
As per SP Phuyal, it has been revealed that due to the weak economic condition, the victims were promised monthly wages of 28 thousand rupees in Kuwait and were sent there from New Delhi, India, and then transferred to Colombo, Sri Lanka, under the supervision of local agents.
The police have informed that the search for other involved suspects in the incident is ongoing.
