ITAHARI, NEPAL-Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) advanced to the final of the 14th Itahari Gold Cup after a dramatic victory in the semi-final held last night. In a tightly contested match under the floodlights, TAC triumphed over defending champions Sagarmatha Club in a thrilling penalty shootout, emerging victorious with a scoreline of 2-1.
With neither team able to break the deadlock during regular play, the fate of the match was left to be decided by penalties. Fatteman Ghale and Ripu Bhulan found the net for TAC, while Diwakar Chaudhary managed the solitary goal for Sagarmatha Club.
The standout performance of TAC goalkeeper Bikesh Kuthu earned him the title of Man of the Match, along with a cash prize of 10,000 rupees.
In tonight’s second semi-final encounter, last year’s runners-up Church Boys United will face off against the host team Rastriya Jagriti Club.
