Church Boys United, champions of the First Division League, secured their inaugural Jhapa Gold Cup title with a commanding 3-0 victory over APF FC on Monday. Abayomi Aluwaseun Fakunle shone in the final, scoring two goals, while Rajesh Pariyar added one to the tally in the 6th edition showdown at Domlal Rajbanshi Stadium in Birtamod.
Abayomi’s first goal came in the 12th minute, followed by a remarkable solo effort in the 72nd minute. Rajesh sealed the triumph with a goal just three minutes before the final whistle, capitalizing on a precise pass from Abayomi.
The championship win earned Church Boys a substantial cash prize of Rs. 1.3 million, while the runners-up, APF, received Rs. 700 thousand.
In another football event, Morang District FC secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Nepal Police Club on Monday, propelling them into the semi-finals of the 24th International Invitational Budhasubba Gold Cup Football in Dharan. Mahendra Karki, Sushil Rai, and Umesh Karki each found the net for Morang.
The deadlock was broken in the 70th minute by Mahendra, followed by Umesh doubling the lead eight minutes later. Sushil sealed the victory in injury time of the second half, securing Morang District FC’s spot in the semi-finals.
