Lumbini– The vote of confidence for the newly-appointed Chief Minister of Lumbini Province, Jokh Bahadur Mahara, is scheduled for today.
Speaker Tularam Gharti Magar has convened a meeting of the Lumbini Provincial Assembly at 1 pm to conduct this crucial vote.
Mahara’s appointment to the role of Chief Minister was made by State Chief Amik Sherchan, and he promptly took his oath of office on the same day. To secure his position, Mahara garnered support from various political factions, including 29 MPs from UML, 11 from the Maoist Center, 4 from Nagarik Unmukti Party, 3 from Janata Samajwadi Party, one from the Unified Socialist Party, and an independent lawmaker.
With an assembly of 87 members, Mahara needs the backing of at least 44 members for a majority. Following his appointment, Mahara has also selected ministers from CPN-UML, Maoist Center, and Janata Samajwadi Party to assist him in governing the province.
