Krishna Bahadur Mahara arrested in The case of Gold smuggling

Gold smuggling: On Monday, police apprehended Krishna Bahadur Mahara, Vice Chairman of the ruling CPN (Maoist Centre), about a gold smuggling case. According to Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Bhim Prasad Dhakal, spokesperson of Nepal Police, Mahara was arrested in Pakadi, Mayadevi Rural Municipality, Kapilvastu, on Monday. The police team is currently preparing to transport Mahara to Kathmandu.

This arrest follows a recommendation by a high-level probe commission, chaired by former judge Dilliraj Acharya, which was formed to investigate gold smuggling. The commission had previously obtained a statement from Mahara regarding the case.
