South Korea Expands Job Prospects for Nepali Migrant Workers with Introduction of Three New Sectors under EPS”

In a significant move, South Korea has revealed plans to widen job opportunities for Nepali migrant laborers under the Employment Permit System (EPS), introducing openings in three additional sectors starting in 2024.

The Korean government’s initiative aims to diversify employment avenues for Nepali workers, now extending to the service sector, forest sector, and root industries.

Traditionally, Nepali migrant workers were mainly concentrated in agriculture, manufacturing, and shipbuilding sectors.

According to EPS Korea section reports, the Korean government is set to augment available seats by 13.2% compared to the previous year.

Dandu Raj Ghimire, Director-General at the EPS Korea Section, refuted speculations suggesting a reduction in seat availability, emphasizing the commitment to expanding opportunities for Nepali workers.
