The Maoist Center (CPN) convened a meeting of its office bearers on Tuesday to address the situation concerning Krishna Bahadur Mahara.
As per party spokesperson Agni Prasad Sapkota, discussions revolved around Mahara’s recent arrest in connection with a suspected involvement in a gold smuggling case. Mahara, the former Speaker and Vice Chairman of the party was arrested in Bhairahawa on Monday.
Despite his arrest, the party has not yet decided his status. Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has reportedly suggested Mahara’s resignation, but a final verdict on suspending him from his post is pending.
